The Fiera Milano (Fairground Milan), eg where the annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile is held, is 15 kms/9 miles to the North-West of Milan's city centre at the top left of the above map.

By public transport the exhibition centre at “Rho-Fiera Milano” is best reached by

  • Train from Central Station (c10 mins, hourly or better)
  • Passante suburban train lines S5 & S6 from Garibaldi Station (c15mins, every 15 mins)
  • Metro (ie subway/underground) Red line M1

We recommend you buy the special return ticket specifically to/from “Rho-Fiera Milano” at €5.00 from ticket machines/offices/newskiosks, as there are often large queues waiting to buy tickets back from the Fairground exhibition centre. It is valid via all three routes: Trenitalia, metro and/or suburban lines.
A single ticket to “Rho-Fiera Milano” is €2,50; an “All Day Pass” is €8 (prices correct as of November 2014).

The fastest route from our apartments near Centrale station at Piazza Luigi di Savoia/via Pergolesi is taking a train from Centrale FS: direct links to Rho-Fiera run at least hourly (usually around quarter past the hour) and take approximately 10 minutes. (If you miss the direct/express link, other slower trains making more stops take up to 40 minutes to reach Rho.)

The second fastest route from our apartments near Centrale station at Piazza Luigi di Savoia/via Pergolesi is:

  • Take the Green Metro line M2 (see top right of map) from “Caiazzo” (a one minute walk from our apartments) to “Garibaldi FS” railway station (3 stops)
  • At Garibaldi, transfer to the suburban railway “Passante”, taking the first available train
    either on line S5 (direction “Varese”) or line S6 (direction “Novara”)
    S5/S6 trains run every 15 minutes – usually departing at .02 .17 .32 .47 past the hour
  • Get off at the 4th stop “Rho-Fiera Milano” (approx 15 minute journey)

Alternatively using only the Metro (considerably slower):

  • Either take the Green Metro line M2 to “Cadorna FN” (6 stops) and at “Cadorna FN” transfer to the Red metro line M1 to “Rho-Fiera Milano” (13 stops)
  • Or walk 2 blocks further East to “Loreto” for Red Metro line M1 (ie direct on one train for 21 stops, about 45 minutes)
  • Metro frequency : Red line M1 to “Rho-Fiera Milano” 7 minutes, Green line M2 trains every 4 minutes


Getting to the “Fiera Milano” Exhibition Centre from our apartments at via Pola

The fastest public transport route to the Fiera Milano is a 15 minute suburban train journey on lines S5/S6 from Garibaldi FS station.  It  is within reasonable walking distance of the apartments, however you may prefer a shorter/simpler walk plus a one-stop metro journey to reach it with the new purple line 5 from stop ‘Isola’.

Either walk to “point B”, the corner of “via Guglielmo Pepe” & “Via Carmagnola” (800m, 8 minutes) where there is a subway entrance to Garibaldi FS.

Or walk to piazzale Lagosta to “Isola” station (100m, 1 minute) on the Pink metro line M5, and travel one stop South to Garibaldi FS

Getting to “via Tortona” from our apartments in piazza Luigi di Savoia and in via Pergolesi and from via Pola

Walk to the nearest Green metro line station: from piazza Luigi di Savoia and via Pergolesi go to “Caiazzo” (50m 1 minute)  and from via Pola go to “Garibaldi” station (750m, 9 minutes) alternatively from via Pola you can take one stop on the pink line from “Isola” to “Garibaldi”, and then on the Green metro line M2 travel five/seven stop south to "Porta Genova FS"; via Tortona is a two minute walk on the West side of the Porta Genova station/railway, running to the North, and from the S.West.
